What shows up most in Florida tap water
- Disinfection byproducts (trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids): form when chlorine meets organic matter. Florida's warm, organic-rich source water makes them common statewide.
- Arsenic: occurs naturally in parts of the Floridan aquifer.
- Sulfur (hydrogen sulfide): the rotten-egg smell common in Florida well and groundwater.
- PFAS "forever chemicals": detected in some South Florida systems.
How to filter Florida tap water
- Drinking water: the 8L stainless steel gravity filter uses carbon filters, needs no plumbing or electricity, and keeps working through hurricane-season power outages.
- Shower: a 15-stage filtered shower head reduces chlorine where hot water turns it into steam.
- Fluoride: add post-treat fluoride filters to the gravity system.
